September 18 2011: Des Moines Discovery
For those of you who are interested in radio controlled activities as much as I am, you know what I mean when I say how excited I am to have found this RC track at Hobby Haven! I traveled to the hobby shop in Des Moines hoping to try out the motocross style track, but my hopes were bashed to find puddles and mud where I had hoped to drive my rc car... But to my surprise, one of the hobby shop employees informed me that there is actually another rc track in Southridge Mall, which is not far from the shop! So I went to that one and I was lucky to drop in on some racing action. The funny part is that this is like a really nice mall-you round a corner expecting to see another nice shop and you see a full blown indoor track! I was blown away. Hobbyists in this area are determined to have their fun rain or shine! Check out the video after the break.
The driver of this here 1/8th 4wd drive buggy was pretty impressive especially considering the fact that he was probably 10 or so years old!
September 16th 2011: ISU Soccer
It turns out that ISU has a magnificent women's soccer team! Their games are really fun to go to- It's fun to be a part of such a lively crowd! This team might be one of ISU's best kept secrets... In other news, I met CY! He's awesome. Turns out he also attends my bible study. In a less feathered fowlly form of course.
September 15, 2011: NEW flavor of Peace Tea??
For those of you who have not met Peace Tea, I'm sorry, you're really missing out! I would love to introduce you two. Peace Tea is a WONDERFUL iced tea (non alcoholic of course) drink that I basically live off of at school. Peace tea, Blog Stalker, Block Stalker, Peace Tea! Ok now you have to try some and you just might become best friends! He comes in many flavors. Some of my favorites are: Green Tea, Razzleberry, Ceylon, and Lemon.
A new flavor was added to the C-store at ISU recently-- Caddy Shack! Half sweet sweet tea, half lemonade that'll pucker your tastebuds. So basically Peace Tea's version of an Arnold Palmer. If none of this makes sense to you I apologize, read on to the next post. Few understand my obsession for cool sweet tea.

September 13th 2011
I love this bike- I kind of want to build/get my hands on one so I can buzz around campus. The Green Gator behind it would be OK too...
September 8th 2011
One evening as I walked into my dorm, I looked up and saw a magnificent moon, bright and shining through the clouds. I thought it looked pretty cool so I ran to my room to grab my roommate's camera and tripod. I like the way that Friley looks at night, so I added this into the shot. For some reason it reminded me of a scene that could be in the Harry Potter movies. Unfortunately, by the time I got all set up (and figured out how to take a shot at night~15s frame) the clouds had passed and were no longer shining through the clouds. However I'm still satisfied with the way this shot turned out!

September 2nd 2011
I love sitting by the window on a warm afternoon while I study. I open my windows and feel the breeze as the wind blows my challenging homework around, but it's ok! The breeze is comforting-it reminds me that no matter what challenges arise in the future, God will overcome. His plan easily overcomes the illusion of uncertainty. God HAS overcome. Suddenly, as my papers fly around in a small tornado, the challenges of my life become insignificant. He will lead me, all I have to do is let him through the window of my heart.

August 28th 2011
Maddie and my Grandpa visited me this weekend! We had a great weekend. One of the highlights was when we went to a nearby restaurant that has amazing desserts.
August 23rd 2011
So the new school year has begun! My roommate Evan has been teaching me a good deal about photography. He has the ability to capture just about any moment artistically and crisply with a camera in hand. It's been fun to learn about what it takes to take a great photo- So far what I have learned is that external flashes are key! Here are a few shots of my mini Revo that I took just sitting on my dorm room carpet.

Strenuous Job
Today I had the hardest day of work EVER. Maddie and I had no idea what we were getting into when we agreed to weed a new customer's swimming area... We had to weed the thickest weeds I think I've ever seen. From the surface it didn't look that bad, but upon getting in and pulling them, it felt like pulling up sod from the bottom of the lake. Luckily it came up in chunks, but muck always was attached making each armful very heavy!
Photo proof of our worst enemy... WEEDSSS (but without them we wouldn't have a business):
Yeah, it took 2 and a half hours to load these weeds onto tarps and haul them to the trailer. It was... a very strenuous activity.
At one point, a boat party floated by. Not sure if you can see the screened-in-porch-on-a-boat... thing haha! (Clicking on the picture reveals a much larger version):
Thanks for readin'! Toodles!

My Profession (for now)
So. It's been quite some time since my last post simply because I've been having a fandandy summer so far!
I have an awesome job. My girlfriend Maddie and I have a business called Scuba Sibs and basically what we do is get fully dressed in SCUBA gear, dive down to the bottom of lake Minnetonka, and pull weeds for hours almost every day. I wouldn't necessarily call it diving because the deepest we ever get is probably 10 feet. A more accurate description might be "Rolling around in the muck so that other people don't have to". Oh well. It pays well! In fact, I ultimately decided to quit my part time lifeguarding job so that I could focus my time on Scuba Sibs.
So why is it called Scuba Sibs you might be wondering? Maddie and her brother started the business last year and Max is interning in DC, so I was recruited to be her scuba mate!
I hope to go on SCUBA adventures sometime in my future-so far I've considered a few places in Door County, WI such as Garret Bay. It would be really cool to explore a ship wreck on the bottom of Lake Michigan! I can imagine that my work really prepares me for the worst in diving because I can hardly see when I'm diving in Lake Minnetonka due to the muck and silt. If the bottom of the ocean were to get stirred up while doing a more interesting dive, others might panic while I feel right at home-Completely blind.

What to doooo....
I crashed my rc car into a fire hydrant last week (it isn't in great shape at the moment). It was a very unfortunate incident!
Anyways, today while I was trying to think of something to do, I realized that my bed is getting REALLY unstable and rickety. So I took off the board that I thought was the problem and realized that it was incredibly warped! If you have any idea how to unwarp a 2x4 please let me know, because no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to bend it back (surprise, surprise). However, I did tighten some various nuts which hold my loft together, which seemed to help a LOT! Hooray!
I think spring is coming... Today it was 40 degrees and mostly sunny! I'm excited for some warmer weather-- it's pretty cold and windy during the winter here in Iowa!
Something that I've noticed about college is how fast time goes! I can hardly believe it's time to go by the end of most of my classes, and each week seems to fly! I always feel like I need more hours in the day during weekdays because I have so much to do!
One more thing to add: Last wednesday night at 2am I was rudely awoken by a fire alarm.... It was pretty alarming, especially because there is a smoke detector right above my bed. So everyone goes outside and waits... and waits... and WAITS for the signal that we can go back inside, but there was no evidence that we would be going back inside any time soon. To make matters worse, it was -6 degrees outside. I somehow had the presence of mind to grab my jacket before leaving my room, but there were a few who were only wearing t-shirts. About 45 minutes after the alarm went off, it stopped sounding so my roommates and I went back inside. We were so happy to be warm in our beds =) Still haven't heard anything as to what the cause of or who was responsible for this "emergency"... All seemed to be fine upon returning to my dorm!

Random Interesting (?) Mobile Uploads
I've really been enjoying the camera on my iPhone. It lets me take photos whenever I want! And plus I think they're pretty good quality! I think if you click on them you can see them in their full size.
Snow at Iowa State!
What the rc car looks like after a run in the powder =D
Lots of SNOW at Iowa State!
We rearranged our room. Don't worry, this isn't the final result-- I just took a picture during the process because there was literally no room to move!!
IMPACT!!!
Broken Wing =/
Lost Mitten! I Really like this photo for some reason.
Winter Break!
Winter Break was amazing. It was so great to have such a long break from the stresses of school! I did a lot. I'm not going to explain it all, but here are a few pictures that I took.
Oh, and in other news I finally just decided to buy an iPhone, so I can easily take photos in fairly good quality and post them here!
A few photos with Maddie one day
